Question : I have a large enough compressor but the PWC-658 bogs down from time to time. What can I do to improve the operation?
Answer : Since you may have multiple equipment connected to compressed airline, you may be short of air flow available from your compressor or airline.
Question : What is the difference between wet grinders on the market and Alpha® PWC-658?
Answer : Most wet grinders have been built with an alteration of common pneumatic high-speed angle grinders designed for dry applications with exterior water feeds. The PWC-658 is designed from scratch as an industrial wet grinding tool for the stone industries. With this said, the Alpha® wet cutter/grinder is built with more than 35 years of experience producing wet polishers and voices from stone fabricators.
Question : How can I use the PWC-658 for cutting application without a common flange and lock nut set?
Answer : Alpha® recommends using a cutting blade with a Quad-W Adapter that distributes water on both sides of the blade effectively. The Quad-W Adapter is the standard accessory that comes with the PWC-658, but you can also purchase the Quad-W Adapter at Alpha® authorized distributors.
Question : What is the warranty on the PWC-658?
Answer : One year warranty (See manual for details).
Question : How can I get the parts list and schematic for the PWC-658?
Answer : Visit our website at www.alpha-tools.com or call at 800-648-7229.
Question : Can I use the PWC-658 as a dry cutter or a dry grinder?
Answer : Yes, you can. Alpha® recommends the Ecoguard CX, W6, or GX to replace steel safety guard so that you can connect to a HEPA vacuum to collect dangerous silica dust from the cutting edge according to Table 1 of OSHA silica rule.
Question : What is the best maintenance method for long term use of PWC-658?
Answer : Alpha® recommends operating the PWC-658 in conjunction with a Filter/Regulator Manifold System to minimize Humidity and Debris entering the motor housing with compressed air. Alpha® also recommends daily maintenance by using several drops of Rust Inhibitor Oil from the Oil Port then distribute to Cylinder and Roter area by moving spindle for a few turns so that steel surfaces would receive a coating of Rust Inhibitor Oil to prevent from Rusting. Alpha® highly recommends this daily method of maintenance at the end of the shift.
Question : Shall I use Automatic Oiler so that Cylinder and Roter are always coated with oil so that I don’t have to oil daily?
Answer : Alpha® does not recommend Automatic Oilers since the Muffler will be soaked with dirty oil then clogged in a short time and excess oil will be on stone to stain and floor would become very slippery that would be the safety hazard.
Question : I feel loss of power although there is no change with working parameters. How can I fix this issue?
Answer : Alpha® recommends replacing mufflers that must have been old and clogged so that compressed air cannot exit from muffler. You can remove the Exhaust Deflector with screwdriver then replace it with new one that should release exhaust properly to ensure the original power. During this operation, you can adjust the direction of exhaust air by spinning Deflector.
Question : How can I change the angle of Spring Return Throttle Lever?
Answer : You need 48mm spanner to loosen Nut (Part No. 60) then change the angle to desired position then tighten once again so secure.
Question : The Elite Q blade came with PWC-658 for granite/quartzite/engineered stone. However, I need to cut porcelain/sintered slab on my job. Which blade shall I use for these materials?
Answer : Alpha® recommends the Katana Q blade for porcelain/sintered slab application. https://www.alpha-tools.com/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?PageCode=3160
Question : Does Alpha® offer an electric high-speed angle grinder with a center water-feed system?
Answer : Yes, you can. Alpha® recommends the Ecoguard CX, W6, or GX to replace steel safety guard so that you can connect to a HEPA vacuum to collect dangerous silica dust from the cutting edge according to Table 1 of OSHA silica rule.
