Question : What type of extension cord can I use?
Answer : To ensure sufficient power, Alpha® recommends a minimum of 12 AWG for 25 ft. and 10 AWG for 50 ft.
Question : Does Alpha® recommend using the BlackBelt Saws with a Generator?
Answer : Yes, You can use BlackBelt Saws with Generator under the following conditions:
• Generator rated watts should be larger than 2.5 ~3x the saw's motor running watts. (2HP motor needs 5,000 ~ 6,000W generator and 3HP motor needs 7,000 ~ 9,000W generator)
• If the generator is undersized, the motor may not start, the voltage may drops and burn up the motor, or the generator trips the breaker.
• Preferred generators are AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) or an Inverter Generator that protects the Motor windings, digital controls and soft-start circuits.
• We don't recommend Small Portable Generators less than 4,000W, Generators without stable voltage regulation, Long, Thin extension cords, saws with sensitive electronics on "Contractor-Grade" generators.
