The Alpha® Ecogrinder is the ideal high performance grinder with a built-in vacuum system. It is designed for continuous production in fabrication shops as well as job sites. The Alpha® Ecogrinder ensures a virtually dust-free environment without the use of an external vacuum system or expensive dust collector. Its unique slide cover allows the Ecogrinder grinding wheel to grind up to the wall. Opening the slide cover exposes the diamond cutting edge without reducing the vacuum effect. When combined with our manual height adjustment flange assembly, the Ecogrinder can accommodate any 5” grinding wheel with a 7/8” arbor. Whether you are grinding natural stone, concrete, or any masonry materials, the Alpha® Ecogrinder is the tool for you!

Question : What materials can the Alpha® ECG-125/225 be used on?

Answer : The Alpha® Ecogrinder (ECG-125 or ECG-225) can be used to grind natural stone, concrete and masonry materials.

Question : What is the arbor size of the Alpha® ECG-125/225?

Answer : The Alpha® Ecogrinder comes with a floating system (Square Arbor Design) , with a spring, which has a softer touch. Basically, the wheel is free to be pushed downward by a heavy coil to make contact between the surface and the wheel. It is important to note that you need a special grinding wheel for his method, which is included with the purchase of the ECG-125/225. This wheel is a 5” Segmented Grinding Wheel (Part No. DSQ0500) that has a square arbor.

Question : What types of grinding wheels does Alpha® offer for use with the ECG-125/225?

Answer : Alpha® offers two types of grinding wheels for use with the ECG-125/225. Our 5” Segmented Grinding Wheel (Part No. DSQ0500) is recommended for concrete surface preparation and our 5” Spike Wheel (Part No. VCS503Q) is recommended for mastic removal.

Question : Can I use a 5” Grinding Wheel with a 7/8” arbor on the ECG-125/225?

Answer : Yes. We offer a Manual Height Adjustment Flange Assembly (Part No. 890001- sold separately) that allows you to manually adjust the height when necessary. With this assembly, you can use any conventional grinding wheel with a 7/8” arbor.

Answer : The RPM of the ECG-125/225 is: 8,700.

Question : What is the largest size grinding wheel that the ECG-125/225 will accept?

Answer : The ECG-125/225 is designed to be used with only 5” diameter wheels.

Answer : The ECG-125/225 weighs 12.70 lbs.

Question : Why do you recommend running the ECG-125/225 for 15 seconds prior to starting the grinding application?

Answer : This recommended time is to allow the dust bag to inflate and fill the tiny micro fibers within the bag so that no dust will escape during the grinding application.

Question : When I stop grinding, dust comes out near the grinding wheel, why?

Answer : Check to make sure the back flow assembly is attached correctly, so it closes once the tool is shut off. Also, the tool should run for 15 seconds after you complete grinding the floor to allow the dust to pass through the tool, fan and hose to reach the dust bag.

Question : What is the warranty for the ECG-125/225?

Answer : Alpha® warrants the ECG-125/225 against defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of original retail purchase (proof of purchase is required for all warranty repairs). Customers are asked to send in the warranty cards, however, we still need proof of purchase for warranty repairs. Our obligation assumed under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of parts caused by defects in material and/or workmanship. *Applies to tools sold after January 1, 2016 within the USA only.

Question : What can I due to maintain my ECG-125/225 and keep it running like new?

Answer : Unplug the tool, remove the grinding wheel and belt covers to check and clean the belts after every 100 hours of use. Concrete dust may get inside the covers and onto the belts and pulleys, this can cause the belts to wear and the pulleys to slip. The belts should be replaced when showing signs of wear. A worn or stretched belt will not be able to center itself on the pulleys and can come off or wear a hole in the belt cover. After every 300 hours of use you should check the carbon brushes. Replacement of the belts and carbon brushes on a periodic basis is the first step to any type of maintenance. If complications begin to arise during the grinding application, or if unusual noises occur, check the belts and pulleys. If the unit is working correctly and you still hear the noise, this could be an indication that a bearing is worn. If this occurs, then we recommend that you send your tool in for repair.

Answer : Yes. Alpha® offers Wet/Dry Concrete Polishing Wheels (7-Steps) which are recommended to polish concrete floors along the baseboards. You will need to purchase the Variable Drive Hub “Square” arbor (Part No. VDSHUBQ) for securing the concrete polishing wheels onto ECG-125/225.

Question : Can I reuse my dust bag?

Answer : Yes. The dust bag can be emptied and re-used. However; you may need to eventually reorder a new bag (Part No. 133544).
